Zid - Update at Episode 14

Since very little is going on on our blog these days - I feel like I'm watching A LOT of dramas, but apparently I'm not watching enough - I decided to update you on Zid too. It's really a going-no-where drama, which I'm not sure WHY I insist on watching. I'm guessing because I want to see where it ends to see where it was supposed to be going...

So here's an update - Let's go character by character, as they appeared in this episode...

Ahem - these two. So, Saman left Omar's house and went to live with Qasim Uncle until he kicked her out too (or I think she left because he told her she was an idiot for leaving her husband). Saman then decides she's going to go live with the drug-addict, drug-selling, money-leech Zee in her unsafe, shady apartment. Saman is doing odd jobs to earn money (yep - this top executive from Pakistan is now busing tables in Washington DC). For the life of me, I can't figure out why she chooses to be with Zee instead of going back to her decent husband and try to build a life with him. As for Omar, I think he's trying to win Saman over by letting her make her own mistakes until she comes to her senses. Sorry Omar, I don't think she has any.

Rookhi married her gora-Christian boyfriend. Daddy was NOT happy and cut off all relations with her. Took a few episodes, but Rukhi has managed to re-establish her relationship with Dad. Unfortunately, even though Daddy dearest is planning to give her the wedding of the year (some nonsense about wanting to rukhsat her with his own hands), he still hates David's guts and refuses to acknowledge him.

Apparently, Saman has cut off all ties with her mehka, because she's stupid. Let's just call a spade a spade here. So out of the blue her brother calls her to inform her her phuppi has died. Saman is devastated.

Zee is just one hot mess. Turns out she IS Omar's ex and she left him in search of 'excitement'. She is a drug using, drug selling, psychopath who married an abusive drug using alcoholic for like an hour until he was killed and left on the side of the street. She takes money from Saman and her ex-husband shamelessly. Why Saman thinks she should stay with Zee is beyond me. I think Saman needs to fix her own life before she can babysit Zee. Also, in their heart-to-hearts, Zee tells Saman how Omar was a good husband and granted her her every desire - yet, Saman can't seem to find it in her heart to soften towards Omar.

Why is he throwing a big wedding for his daughter when he doesn't even acknowledge her husband?? Anyone? Anyone?

Following phuppi's death, Omar tracks down Saman and brings her back home WITH A SUITCASE.

Saman drinks a cup of tea and then gets ready to leave. WHY DO YOU THINK HE BROUGHT YOUR CRAP FROM ZEE'S APARTMENT WITH YOU?

Oddly enough, Omar seems to have found his backbone, because instead of letting Saman leave, he LOCKS HER IN A BEDROOM to keep her hostage (until she grows a brain?).

Saman is now under house arrest at Omar's house. He even takes away her phone. You would think she could open the front door and walk out while Omar is at work. But apparently, not.  (If you can explain how this works, please message me.)

Omar suggests that Saman take up gardening or clean the swimming pool (??!!) to beat her boredom. (I mean, couldn't she just run away from the backyard?)

Omar leaves his phone on the table, and Saman calls - wait for it - ZEE. Zee doesn't remember who Saman is. (No joke. This really happened. I swear)

Because Omar is such a great guy (?), he takes his wife out to lunch and then bahanay bahanay se puts a ring on her finger. I'm assuming the same ring he tried to give her for moon-dikhaee which she didn't take.

See? See? Do you understand why this drama is NOT recommended? Because its a trainwreck with no destination. I solemnly declare everything I just shared happened in this episode - I am not making anything up. I wanted to insert a face palm gif after every screen shot - luckily, I got too lazy and side-tracked by my own disgust over nothing in this drama making sense. Oh and don't think they got to episode 14 without a whole bunch of other stuff happening. But the fact that I don't have to recap those side stories should tell you how they contributed nothing to the drama.

Will I continue to watch this? Probably. Would I wish it on anyone else? Only my enemies.

Until next time...

    3. Haha you guys are very nice. The way I look at it, Zee is bipolar. Just the way she completely goes from a humble "Ok yeah it's all my fault and I should've known better," to a "Stop trying to advise me you're not my mother, it's my life" self-centered individual and vice versa. It's like watching ping pong with each of her scenes. Saman honestly has no set goal for herself. If you really want to live your life comfortable stay with your husband or just leave him alone altogether. And I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole house arrest idea. You can walk right out, the door is /right/ there. Qasim uncle and Suki (I believe that's how you spell her name?) is a whole different story. Rant over.
