Wednesday is turning into my favourite drama watching day, thanks to this little gem. Alvida replaces the completely convoluted Tum mere Hi Rehna and so far seems equally convoluted. Two Three episodes in and so far so good. But then that's what I thought about Chup Raho, Zid, Tum mere hi rehna, Mehram...yeah.
Let's start off with my favourite bit of every drama...the ost. Sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali.
We have Sanam Jung in the lead, playing Haya (why do all of Sanam Jung's characters have these for letter, two syllable names, haya..sila)
Hadi The Handsome cousin is played by Imran Abbas. He's a doctor and apparently has a bleeding heart of gold. Dude stops over in Somalia before coming back to Pakistan.
I used to love Imran Abbas, but the dude has been sporting the same look for the last twelve years. I suppose if it ain't broke don't fix it... But then he has to go all Bollywood. Serenading Bipasha Basu while trying to find a scary monster. #rollEyes. Wait - I'm new to this Imran Abbas fangirl thing. Has he always been this cute? I've never noticed...The guy is like vampire...he doesn't age.

Now this is where the story gets convoluted. Haya was "adopted" by her Taaya and Taayi, Hadi's parents, after her mother died.
If you had only called her meri choti behen instead of meri choti totee jis mai meri jaan hai, it would've saved you and haya a several episodes of confusion.
Haya has grown up with feelings of animosity towards her father for giving her up
She has two older sisters, Lubna and Aroosa (Naveen Waqar) whi were too young at the time to take care of a little baby sister.
Other possibly important characters in the long run are Fareesa...(haya's other sister lubna is Fareesa's bhabi)
And Khala...
I have no idea ye exactly kiski khala hain? But couldn't she have taken care of haya? In se achi toh mehram wali Khala hain.

My favorite moments...The Shamsi 2 cents.
When Hadi walks in...even I was like...
Haya isn't pleased at not getting a chance to impress Hadi with her good looks and killer dress sense.
When Haya has a hissy fit. So charming. Bet the international-humanitarian doctor can't wait to marry this baggage (even if he was in love with her in the first place, that is)...Lol
Funny - Isn't that exactly what she just did? Lots of pagal hona...
Yup - Miss Close Confidant is actually evil. She and her boyfriend are also a little delusional, which I find concerning...
Hadi is in love with....her? Ummm...why is she dressed in mourning clothes? (Oh wait - three episodes later I get it. She looks like crap, so that you see her be made-over once she marries Hadi and her rank in life is raised. #GotIt #PakistaniDramaLogic)
OTT cheapness from the hired help.
Hadi confides in his mother...
Mom and dad aren't too happy with Hadi's choice for a bride.
Haya's heartbreak
By episode two rishta has been fixed and Haya is on a mission to break things up.
This slightly morbid but hilarious conversion between haya and hadi.
Taaya Ji finding out the cause of Haya's volatile mood swings.
What in the world??!
Jub inke betay se shadi ki umeed thi, tu she was mean to taee. Ab har umeed khatam ho gaee tu she's being nice? I don't get it...
Blown away by this scene. Bravo! I loved how Haya's love for Hadi came out and how he finds out.
Awkwaaaarrrddd...Sharaft Ki Nishani: Wears a dupatta on her head. #PakistaniDramaLogic
Haya decides she can no longer stay in the same house as Hadi and his wife. She tells everyone she's going to go start with her father, but hop skips jumps on a plane to nobody knows where.
Fareesa, blabs about Haya's disappearance in front of the whole family.
*Sigh* Really? Really?Yeah
I just have this oneeeee issue. Of were going to have a side kick best friends for Hadi... Can we please get someone than this guy...
I even have a suggestion...
Thanks for this :-) I hope this one doesn't go the mehram/zid/thousands of other dramas route - start off well, nice ost, hook audience, reel them in and then go downhill rapidly AND keep going forever...also, is it the Imran Abbas effect or is every other male actor in this drama lacking screen presence/looks? Agree with you that Rashid from Mehram would've been a better choice (I admit I'll miss that guy!) - we already have 2 Mehram imports in this play, one more might as well?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Imran Abbas has a clause in his conteacts that prevent producers from hiring actors hotter or as hot as Imran Abbas to act alongside him. Otherwise there's no excuse for not hiring Rashid. :-D
