Inteha - Episode 15: A Review and Recap

Upon request, I thought I'd write up an update on this drama so far. For the sake of my fingers and sanity, I respectfully request my readers to read the first review of the drama (covering episode 1 & 2) to understand where it all began. Coming to the present, I will just update you on each plot as the characters appear...so let's go!

First off we have these two villains: Falaknaz and Shehreyar. Falaknaz used to be married to Moid and Shehreyar was married to Moid's sister, Mishaal (who is also his cousin). The two were attracted to o
ne another from day one because they are both power hungry and driven individuals. By getting married, they have managed to alienate everyone: Falaknaz's family ke leeaye woh marr chuki hei (so much drama) and her new mother-in-law refuses to even acknowledge her, Shehreyar's hated by his ex-wife's whole family and his mom is only willing to talk to him cos at the end of the day woh unka beta hei but she isn't happy about it one bit. Shehreyar, in an attempt to bring peace about at home, has asked his mom what it will take for her to accept Falaknaz and she says Falaknaz should not work and stay at home - the exact bone of contention that became the grounds for her separation from Moid. In conclusion, basically this is happening:

Injured party #1: Falaknaz's Family
Falaknaz's decision to divorce Moid and marry Shehreyar has forced dad to acknowledge maybe he didn't raise her as well as he should have. He now wants to apologize to her ex's family, who also happen to be long time friends of his. Falaknaz's brother has his own reasons to hate Falaknaz: she convinced her father to stop him from marrying the love of his life.

So off daddy goes into the lion's den to apologize for his daughter's mistake and try to m
end fences.

Judging by the reaction from Injured Party #2 (i.e. Moid's parents), we may be in for some fireworks...Also, Moid ki ami se bari koi saroo aaj tak nahi dekhi meine. Ufffff.

So I'm just going to go out on a limb here and make a prediction: Injured party #1 has two perfectly eligible children and one dad with a guilty conscious. Injured party #2 has two wronged children and a son with a chip on his shoulder...Gee, what could POSSIBLY happen? Dear Express, please don't be predictable...

Apparently the production house didn't think it was important to dress the child stars in rich people clothes. She looks like she's wearing the same outfit from Alvida (where she plays the domestic help). #PakistaniDramaLogic

Back at Shehreyar-ville, Falaknaz prances in and asks Aunty to go shopping with her aka asks for Aunty to do her bezeti. And Aunty obliges, most willingly.

Uncle apologizes to his pal, but Moid bursts in and shuts him down. Later Moid takes on his elder brother, leaving us to wonder...

Meanwhile, Falaknaz decides she's going to go to the office regardless of what saasu-ma wants. At the office, Shehreyar is busy making vague excuses for his wife's absence, implying she's pregnant. When Falaknaz walks in, his slimy business partner proceeds to fall at her feet. Surprise surprise - Shehreyar is not amused.

Aunty, in true evil saas form, calls her son to tattle-tell on the bahu. Then she becomes the one-woman welcoming committee, gloating on Falaknaz's return.

Falaknaz sees Shehreyar turn from
Prince Charming to Dominating Frog within mere minutes. You almost feel sorry for her. Almost.

Moid needs to calm his roll and stop busting in on other people having conversations in the drawing room.

The Masi is reporting on Shehreyar's marital affairs? Awwwwkwaaard...

The solution to any problem: Shadi. #PakistaniDramaLogic
Anyway - you don't really know who this Aunty is, but she proceeds to tell Moid's mom how poor Shehwar (Falaknaz's sister), who is an absolute angel, is now rishta-less because people are afraid she might have the same marriage hopping disease her sister has. A long epilogue happens on the exceptional qualities of Shehwar...like I said, come on Express, don't be so predictable now...

The episode ends with Mishaal being all nice to Shehwar and vice versa. Falaknaz might've married Moid, but it was Shehwar who managed to become besties with her susraal.

So is this drama predictable and slightly over the top? Sure, but it's also entertaining, so I stick with it. Sadly, the sanctity of marriage and gravity of divorce are lacking (like most dramas these days) but it has none of that dosari biwi nonsense, which is recommendation enough compared to what else is on TV.

Now on to catch up with Alvida. Maybe this week I'll figure out why we thought it would be a good investment of our time...

Alvida - Episode 14

when the episode starts with Mehrami dad ka more mehrami-pun, you can imagine what the rest of the episode was like.

Rameez Haya mai interested hai ya Hadi mai? Tell me about it. Every time Rameez says, 'HS Bhai...' I feel like vomiting. #100%PureShadiness

Just like Mehram redefined bad parenting for us giving us mehrami dad. This drama had re-defined cheapness, which will henceforth be referred to as Fareesa-ness.
She always wanted to buy him something and now that she is 'rich,' she buys him a bottle of cologne? Really? Kum se Kum watch ya branded cuff links he de deteen. Can't Hadi just bust these two already so we don't have to watch this Fareesa-ness?

Mummy Ji wants to know when Hadi is going to take his and Fareesas marriage into the maya-humza zone.  Hadi tells her they're giving each other space. Light a couple of galaxies worth of space.

Check out the royal treatment Haya is getting...

Totally platonic cousin type of conversation between Hadi and Haya.

Really? I was more worried about this nonsense that occurred. Hadi putting Haya to sleep. Hadi Bhai, yeh nuskhay apni love-of-your-life Aroosa ki nishani pe bhi aazma lia karain.

Do you think Rameez freaked out because Haya was making googoo eyes at Hadi or because Hadi was making googoo eyes at Haya?

Rameez sneaks into the house
Quick poll: What was the most awkward part of this scene?
1- Haya's weird red carpet pose.
2- Rameez sneaking into his finance's house.
3- Rameez and Haya getting caught by Hadi.
4- Rameez asking Hadi for permission to fool around with his fiancĂ©.
5- Hadi giving Rameez permission to fool around with his fiancĂ©.
6- Hadi's gaping open shirt and no-hair chest.
7- ALL OF THE ABOVE.

Useless best friend sidekick almost gets a confession out of Hadi
and it's not like hadi is concerned that being a married man, his feelings for Haya are out of bounds...
Yup...the bane of all Desi love stories...Rishteydar!!

#EwwMoment 1: Hadi doesn't admit he loves Haya, but he's thought of marrying her for sure cos he has all his arguements worked out.

#EwwMoment 2: When Hadi makes the first move towards an intimate relationship with Fareesa.
No! Bad Hadi! No no noooo!!

On the other hand - what the hell is Fareesa thinking? She chose Saim OVER Hadi?

And proof that all the money in the world can't buy Fareesa good taste.

All that sassy backbone collapses as soon as Fareesa realises she may have lost her one and only chance with Hadi.

This wins the "worst dialogue of this episode" award

Somebody call Taya-Ji, PRONTO. Tayi must've forgotten to take her meds today. #WorstAdviceEver

Finally Fareesa and Haya both look like Ameer khandaan ki Ameerzadian
oh look Hadi, it's the woman you regret marrying, with the woman you regret not marrying.

Hadi's face when Haya walks in.
Yeeeeaahhhh...no kuch kuch hota hei going on here, huh Hadi boy?

This busybody is the only one with any SENSE here. Aisa bhi kia hei that the groom didn't have a single attendee from his side?

Wait. Wait. I got it. They named the drama Alvida - as in Alvida to any resemblance to reality. Rameez brings Haya to an empty home? Really? How can a guy have no friends? Coworkers? Anyone?
orrr how come, knowing that Rameez has no family or friends, Taayi didnt come with or send someone with Haya to settle her??? every desi shadi i've been to there's a dozen or so women just itching to drop off the bride to her bridal room and giggle.

Zid - Final Episode

Honestly, I only decided to waste 40 minutes of my life watching this episode so I could provide all of us (who God knows why watched this drama) with closure.

The episode starts with - ONCE AGAIN - Omar telling Saman that Zee has to go. Now. What a pansy. If Saman hasn't kicked Zee out in all this time, what makes him think she'll do it now?

Zee emotionally blackmails Saman. For reals. Saman says Zee doesn't have to go anywhere because this is Zee's house too.

Next thing you know, Zee is giving herself a makeover and me (the viewer) is still trying to figure out WHY Saman has declared this is Zee's house too and WHY isn't she kicking Zee out of the house when it's obvious she is making moves on Omar?

Omar comes home to find Zee is STILL in his house #SurpriseSurprise.

Zee in one scene and then the next. I think all that drug abuse has killed off any brain cells she might've had.

Zee continues to blabber on about having no place to go and some bakwas about having no shanakth. Hello - you left him. You divorced him. You made a choice. Maybe this is supposed to be a great insight-into-Zee scene, but all her yelling and screeching made me like her even less. Where the heck is Saman?

And Omar, as usual, has nothing wise to contribute to the argument. He's still crying like a little girl. #CryMeARiver

Really? Really? NOW you beleive??

Me: Will this torture ever end?

More unbeatable logic from Zee.

I must've missed something - cos next thing you know Saman, who has practically done everything she probably shouldn't have so far in this drama, all of a sudden has an epiphany and FINALLY kicks Zee out! Unfortunately, I'm still confused: is Saman offended that Zee made moves on Omar because she cares about him OR because Saman is having a if-I-can't-have-him-no-one-can moment?

Wait. Wait. This scene should've been a declaration that Saman finally found warm-fuzzy feelings for Omar and she kicked Zee out to save her marriage. Instead, Zee tu chali gaee, laykin these two fools are still fighting.

Zee sends Saman a final love letter and Saman has a flashback about Zee telling her she wants Omar back. And Saman STILL didn't beleive Omar?

And then this - did Saman ever develop feelings for Omar? Who knows. Before she could complete a sentence, Omar was handing her divorce papers. What a waste.

And in the end, Saman walks around in the rain and takes Rukhi's name a few times. Just to remind us ke is dramay mein koi Rukhi bhi thi.

The only positive thing about this drama, was it manages to end within 20 episodes. Nothing else made sense. Saman faces situation after situation which kept teaching her to accept her situation and try to adjust with Omar and she got evidence after evidence that Omar was such a great guy BUT she just continued to walk down the path of self-destruction. Hence, making all the extra characters and sideline stories unnecessary and unimportant.

I thought this drama had great potential - two people with 'pasts,' Saman starting out with her defiance...but that defiance just turned into ass-ism and the drama went down hill and never recovered. Of all the things you could do with your precious time, watching this drama should not be one of them.

Until next time...
