...the overwhelming feeling you've seen this shit before.
It seems like Pakistani dramas are going through a rut. As more and more seasoned television actors, directors and writers turn their attention to the "Revival of Pakistani Cinema", the drama industry is suffering. We're left with a lot of mediocre dramas with nothing much to offer the audience. Most of the dramas have similar or almost identical storylines and some great actors also seem to be stuck doing the same roles over and over again. Here's a list I've compiled...
1. Rape Stories: While its commendable that writers and producers are willing to tackle an important subject like rape, unfortunately the execution of the theme isnt all that great. The poor rape victim is always told to suffer in silence "Chup Raho" "Muqaddas" "Sangat" etc. The Rape is never reported to the authorities. The Rapist never gets to face any legal proceedings. The only justice the victim is told to expect is Divine Justice, which unfortunately arrives only at the last episode. The emotional attyachar continues from the first till the last episode and we the viewers have to suffer right along with the bechari heroine.
10. Mid-Episode Derailed Dramas: These are the dramas that start out AWESOME and then within a few episodes completely start loosing the plot. For example, "Tum Mere Paas Raho" started as a story about two star crossed lovers, then became a saga about adopted vs. real moms, and now we have a miss doing her residency overseas, a pain in the ass mother and mother-in-law, a productive-son turned devdas, and a guy who hates his adopted mom, and his mom, and his life. Sheesh. #MigraineAlert Other dramas that fall under this category are Iahq Parast, Aitraz and Paiwand.

For the record, I don't think it's fair to lump Muqaddas in this category. Yes, she gets raped, but that wasn't the central theme of the drama. As far as Sangat goes, I have high hopes Saba Qamar will not disappoint.
2. Doosri Biwi: OH MY GOD! please just please kill this theme. The women are manipulative. The Bechara men have no option but to marry the second woman. Half the drama goes by in the efforts to hide the second marriage. The other half goes in deciding which of the two wives the husband gets to keep and which one to divorce. Poor little Pakistani men and their problems. "Doosri Biwi" "Mehram"

Wow. I cant believe you only added two examples. Come on now...let's see there's, "Tum Mere Paas Raho" "Ahista Ahista" "Mol" "Mein Bushra" "Firaaq" "Rang Laga" "Khilona" "Goya"...and those are just from ARY Digital and Hum TV.
3. Quickie Divorces: This one gets me more riled up than Rape stories and second wives. Dear drama writers of the "ISLAMIC republic of Pakistan" how effing hard is it to do a little research on proper Islamic method of divorce. Saying Talaq three times in quick succession still only counts as one divorce. Unfortunately thanks to our stupid dramas a generation has grown up thinking that saying it three times and you're no longer husband and wife. I know its not the job of drama writers to teach the public about Islamic jurisprudence but that's no excuse for blatantly spreading misinformation.

100% Agree. Say NO to religious inaccuracies!
4. Bushra Ansari playing a bad mom - Bushra Ansari playing a 20-something herself in a flashback...
5. Waseem Abbas playing a bad dad - Waseem Abbas playing a sick dad that dies from the boojh of some earth shattering thing that happens to his daughter.
6. Sanam Saeed playing someone with sevral different inferiority complexes and emotional issues . Being a girl, being poor, being rejected by fiance, being a step daughter, being rejcted by susral, being rejected by own daughter.
7. Sanam Jung playing the bubbly girl who becomes the depressed girl by the end of the drama.

8. Zahid Ahmed playing ANYTHING on Hum TV - it's like they own him or something.
9. Ancient-dinosaur male actors being paired up with girls young enough to be their daughters/granddaughters: Look. I get it. Mard ki koi umar nahi hoti, we live in a male dominated society etc etc. However, I fail to see why with so many younger male actors, drama makers INSIST on casting these buddhay. And fine, if your drama will be a complete flop unless you dont cast Faisal Qureshi/ Adnan Siddiqui/ Agha Ali tu atleast cast a female actress jiss se koi jordh lagay -- Ayesha Khan/Saba Qamar and not Sajjal Ali/Mawra Hocane. Sheesh. #CradleSnatchers

I wish drama makers would just return to the good old days where the dramas were about zalim saas-es and mazloom bahus who kick their zalim-butts at the end... WHAT??? NO!!! Let's go back to when dramas were cutesie romances. When did THOSE ever happen? :p
Oh. And while we are at it, will someone please bring back Aiza Khan in dramas? #JustSayin
